Welcome to the Ontario Looking After Children Portal
Looking After Children (LAC) is an approach to assessing the development of children being cared for by child welfare agencies and enhancing their progress towards important developmental goals. The children's progress is assessed on a yearly basis, using seven developmental dimensions: health, education, family and social relationships, social presentation, identity, emotional and behavioral development and self-care skills.

Looking After Children allows child welfare staff and foster parents to put the concept of good parenting into practical application. It encourages greater collaboration among key partners and promotes better planning, which will improve child outcomes.
